Bride Emi Wong, a popular Hong Kong YouTuber, and husband, Chad share with Asia Wedding Network their real wedding story…which took place during the beginning of COVID-19 right before all the countries started restricting travel! “The planning process was more challenging than expected with a lot of uncertainties. There were concerns whether the wedding needed to be postponed or cancelled due to any travel restrictions that might have been imposed back in February,” explains Chad. “But luckily everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. The weather was perfect for an outdoor, pool-side ceremony. The sparklers and fire fountains at night were the highlights which really set the mood, and most importantly everyone enjoyed the night together with great music and food.” Scroll below to see how their wedding day unfolded:
Describe your wedding! “It was an intimate destination wedding in Phuket with family and close friends only - an occasion for family and close friends to celebrate this special moment with us and spend time together.”
What emotions did you feel throughout the day? “Both of us were quite nervous especially before the vows but we were very grateful that everyone made it to our wedding and we had a great time together!”
Was there one particular moment that was very special to you?
Emi: “We arrived in Phuket 4 days before the wedding and stayed at the villa together, just like a family holiday /getaway. So I strongly recommend couples to spare a few more days for their destination wedding to spend extra time with family.”
Chad: “Listening to our parents and best friends heartfelt speeches was truly a special moment, being able to share that together sitting with Emi at our table is something I will always remember.”
What was particularly special about your wedding? “Emi was getting married in the same qipao her mom wore more than 30 years ago on her wedding day. It meant a lot to both her and her mom.”
Advice for future couples planning their wedding? “Start to plan your wedding early, so you got more time on the planning process (don’t feel too rushed at the end). Consider hiring a wedding planner if you have a busy schedule and have no idea where to start. Must do makeup and hairstyle trial before the wedding so the bride can make sure how she looks on the big day. Most importantly, take it easy and don't stress yourself out too much as you don’t know what will come up during the process.”
