From Bride Andrea: “We kept the colours neutral - white with touches of blush and pink! I wrote my own vows, he being a traditionalist used a classic version with some of his personalized edits. We both wrote speeches peppered with jokes, mainly at each other. The night before of our wedding, it poured buckets - a rarity for Bali during August. We were worried that our outdoor wedding plans would be ruined but worked on backup alternatives with Soori Bali and decided to just make the best out of everything."
First off, how did you two meet? “We met on Tinder! It wasn’t love at first sight for both of us but we decided to meet up for a second date 3 weeks later. He proposed about a year later and we legally registered our marriage a few months later. The official wedding was held the following year in Bali.”
Describe your wedding - how long did it take to plan? “It took around 9 months. I didn’t hire a wedding planner so I did the entire planning on my own with inputs from my husband and worked with the hotel wedding manager. We planned the list of songs to be played by the band together. Unfortunately, there was a funny miscommunication with the band and our playlist which took us weekends to complete wasn’t used.”
What kind of emotions did you feel throughout the day? “We were both relatively calm despite facing anxiety from Mt Agung eruption that happened 1-2 weeks prior to our wedding.”
Was there one particular moment that was very special to you? “I was holding back tears while walking down the aisle and reciting our vows to each other was an extremely special moment for us both.”
Any advice for current bride-to-be’s planning their wedding? “While the wedding is a memorable event, it is not the end all but a beautiful start to a long lasting marriage. Don’t sweat the small stuff, invest in a good photographer and videographer to capture the moments as the day will fly by so quickly and it is nice to have photos and videos to look back on. Have a budget, stick to it. We personally preferred to keep it modest and saved our money for something more permanent which was the investment in our house. Most importantly, enjoy the process together and enjoy your special day! Things will go wrong but it is what makes it memorable. I forgot my bridal bouquet and walked down the aisle empty handed, we all had a good laugh at the end. My dad stepped on my train after handing me over to my husband and it was hilariously captured on video.”
