A lot of the times, we do photoshoots to celebrate the start of a marriage, but we pay less attention to celebrating the milestones in marriage, or re-doing vows to each other, to keep the love going. This was in fact the inspiration behind this styled shoot vow renewal with an Old-World Romance theme. We invited a husband and wife, James and Baijing, for the photoshoot session to make it more meaningful. They were married 5 years ago at Island Shangri-la and 5 years later, they just did their vows again to each other at the same hotel - at Shangri-la Suite - to celebrate the love and also the pregnancy of Baijing, who is 4 months pregnant with a baby girl, their second child, at the time of the shoot. Scroll down to see all the beauty of the day, as captured through Hong Kong fine art photographer, Mattie C.
Our theme was inspired by Old World Romance and we endeavored to bring out the tenderness, the gentle love between the married couple - the soft but continuous love that lasts for a life time. With Island Shangri-la's flair for vintage and elegant decor, it was the perfect venue for the shoot. We were surrounded by chandeliers, Chinoiserie walls and paintings, and a wooden fireplace. We picked two wedding gowns from Monique Lhuillier with lace in romantic style, one of which carried a faint resemblance from Grace Kelly's wedding dress. Our bride, Baijing brought out that mood naturally. It was so loving when we witnessed their vow renewal and some of her bridal portraits looked like she walked straight out of a renaissance painting!
Even though they have been married for 5 years now, James spends most of his time in Myanmar for his business, so they’ve been doing a long-distance relationship for around 4 years. The love was still so strong and intimate together with the kids when we did the shoot. "There has not been a problem too big or too painful, knowing that you are always by my side. Life would be a meaningless path, were you not there to see it through with me. I promise to keep falling in love with you, with our children and our family for as long as I shall live.” This was a promise made by James to his wife and children.
