1. Propose indoor with candles
If you have a feeling the weather is not going to be in your favor, go ahead and plan for an indoor proposal. There’s a strong chance that the storms have dulled the sunlight. Take advantage of the darkness by filling your home or apartment with lit candles. Not only will the candles give your home a romantic glow but it will really set the mood for the proposal. This more intimate and sexy ambiance will make a memorable backdrop and if the weather is so bad that you can’t make it to dinner afterwards, have a candle-lit dinner at home.

2. Make a reservation
There’s nothing more romantic than an intimate meal at a high class restaurant. Make reservations and tell your girl to put on a little black dress. Talk with the staff beforehand to get the details ironed out. Enjoy a fantastic meal and arrange for the ring to be brought out after dessert. You can also plan for champagne to follow the proposal. If you have been planning for a more secluded proposal, ask the restaurant if you can eat in a private room or even a more secluded area of the restaurant, if they have one. But you can totally pull off an intimate and romantic proposal in a classy restaurant.

3. Be creative
As with every outdoor proposal, you should have a solid backup plan. The key word is should. When you are planning your backup indoor proposal, you should get creative. Try to plan out something that incorporates both of your personalities. If she is a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, propose with a romantic line from one of the books. If she loves dogs and you both own one, tie the ring to a collar. How can she say no to such a sweet, thoughtful, (and dry) proposal?

4. Wait it out
If you are determined to pull off an epic outdoor proposal, don’t let the weather stop you. Find some shelter, like a cabin or awning area. You both might be out of breath from running in the rain. You might be completely soaked. Take this opportunity to warm each other up, cuddle, and wait it out. If the rain doesn’t stop, find the right moment and just do it there. Being soaked will be part of the adventure.

5. Just embrace it
You might be thinking, “dude, it’s just rain.” Why are you guys making such a big deal out of it? And you’re right. This could be your epic moment to pull off a gorgeous proposal. As long as it’s not life-threatening weather, just propose. Don’t worry about it being perfect. Don’t worry about every little detail. Just ask her to marry you. Who knows, you could end up have that perfectly sexy moment straight from “The Notebook” rain scene. Once the proposal is over, you can go inside and dry off. Just enjoy one of the biggest moments of your life. Rain shouldn’t be an issue.
