How does the buying process work?
Who is responsible for paying shipping fees?
First, email the seller. Then, you can learn more about the dress (and see it in person if the location of the dress is close to you!). Then, you can talk to the seller about payment methods. You can see the payment methods accepted by the seller in the ‘Selling Details’ tab. If you haven’t seen the dress, we recommend you use Paypal or Escrow.com for more protection. Click here to see our detailed breakdown of all the potential payment methods.
The buyer is typically responsible for shipping fees as an additional charge over and above the cost of the dress. Make sure to ask the seller for a shipping quote, as she'll be the one sending the dress to you. It's also essential to use a shipping method that offers insurance, tracking and a signature upon delivery.

Can I rent this dress instead?
How do I tell the difference between dress size and street size?
Actually purchasing a preowned wedding gown can cost less than renting a dress (plus you can keep it for a longer period of time). While we currently don’t offer rental dresses on our website, you can evaluate the pros and cons of buying a preowned wedding dress vs renting one in this article.
Dress designers tend to label wedding gowns differently than everyday clothing brands like Zara or H&M. Unless you're already familiar with a specific designer's sizing, you're best to refer to measurements for bust, waist and hips to determine whether the dress you're looking at is likely to be a good fit. Check out our glossary and sizing guide here!
What questions should I ask the seller before buying her dress?
What's the difference between preservation and dry cleaning?
Lots! It's always good to ask questions before making such an important purchase. We suggest confirming the dress measurements, materials, condition and method used to clean it, as well as any enquiries about details you're not 100% certain on. It's better to be inquisitive and ensure you know exactly what you're buying.
Dry cleaning is a basic service that sanitizes a garment and removes obvious marks from the material. Preservation, by comparison, can help protect against yellowing that comes with age, the deterioration of fabric and even seemingly invisible marks that might resurface with time. When asking if a seller has had the dress cleaned after her wedding, don't be afraid to double-check you're both using the same terminology.
I found a dress I like – can I try it on before I buy it?
This all depends on where the buyer and seller are located and both of your comfort level with such a request. If you happen to be in the same location, you could always ask the seller if that’s possible and how she feels about it.
