From the bride: “We stayed at the Intercontinental DaNang Resort in March 2017 for vacation and it was unforgettable. We knew we wanted to get married there the moment we arrived. And we weren’t even engaged yet! The feeling that we had was that it was the most peaceful and relaxing place we’ve ever been to. The service we received throughout the resort was top-notch. We knew we wanted to bring our family and friends there so they can also experience what we experienced and have the feeling that “everything was meant to be”.”

First off, how did you two meet? “We met in Las Vegas when Bao was working there and I went for the weekend with my sister and some friends. We kept in touch throughout the years until we finally started talking more and got into a long-distance relationship. Bao started working in Singapore and I was in Vancouver. We finally got married in April 2018. It was just “meant to be” that we met earlier on, not knowing that we would end up getting married years later.”

Describe your wedding! How long did it take to plan? “We got engaged in Chiang Mai 3 months after we took a trip to Intercontinental DaNang Resort. It took us 9 months to plan this wedding. It was a challenge to plan everything through emails and phone calls but we got through it.”

What was your wedding theme? “We are minimalists with elegance so everything was neutral in colour but classy. Bao doesn’t like cakes but we LOVE donuts so we decided on a donut tower topped with a cake. The resort made it happen for us and it turned out so perfect.”

What emotions did you (or your husband) feel throughout the day? “We already had a church solemnization ceremony in Singapore a few days prior. On that day, it didn’t hit us that we’re finally getting married until the moment we first saw each other at the church. Bao was at the front of the church. The church doors opened as I stood at the end of the aisle. As I started walking down the aisle, our hearts started beating faster and our eyes started watering. We were both trying to fight back the tears. In Da Nang, we were travelling with a lot of family and friends so it was very busy but also relaxed as it felt like it was the second time around and the “finale”. Also the Intercontinental Danang Resort is our “happy place”. We were very excited to finally be able to breathe and enjoy the moment once we both said our final vows.”

Advice for future brides? “My advice would be to just be true to yourselves. Don’t do something just because you think you have to. And if you really feel strongly about something, just communicate with each other. Wedding planning should be the bride AND the groom planning the wedding together. It is the ultimate test for the beginning of a lasting marriage. Lastly, enjoy the planning process because it is as they say, it will be over too soon.”
