From Bride Lea: “Love your own wedding, the details and every moment. No matter how big or small or how extravagant or simple our wedding could be, every wedding will always have a special feeling because it is our own love story and our kind of fairytale. During our wedding planning, I created wedding mood boards for each detail of our wedding – our church florals, reception styling, cocktail activities layout, male and female wardrobe for entourage and guests. Colors that we used were earth and neutral color like beige, brown, gold with a touch of feminine blush pink as my favorite color. I also added one strong color like deep red as a highlight for the mother’s dress and groomsmen bowtie. The purpose of a wedding is not to show off what you can splurge but it is a celebration of a marriage bond that we wanted to be witnessed by the people special to our hearts.”

How did you meet? “We are a millennial couple and we found love via a social media app called Tinder. We are one of those Tinder success stories as they say. When we first met, we did not have expectation that it will flourish into something like a real kind of relationship. But as we get to know and discover each other, it just come naturally and realized we’ve come to love each other for no reason.”

How did he propose? “Miko proposed to me during our local vacation trip in Cebu on August 2016. We started to list our wedding plans right after the proposal at the airport on our way back to Manila and started to book our first wedding supplier on Sept 2016. Our wedding preparation took us 1 year and 4 months in total.”

Describe the wedding planning process! “During our wedding planning, I’ve created wedding mood boards for each detail of our wedding – our church florals, reception styling, cocktail activities layout, male and female wardrobe for entourage and guests. The mood boards made us easy to communicate the details with our suppliers and guests. With most of our wedding suppliers, we set meetings to discuss the specific details and preference but the suppliers don’t only have one client but there are many. To make sure that they will remember our preferences, I gave our wedding suppliers a photo copy of my mood board to remember the details. I even put in a booklet arranged per area of each details. Our suppliers praised me with all the details I’ve prepared for them that made them easy to deliver their best effort of their master piece of work.”

Tell us about the special touches you put in your cocktail hour! “I also want to share that I gave time and effort to think about the cocktail hour. Usually, in most of the weddings I’ve attended, cocktail hour/waiting time between ceremony to reception was taken for granted and the guests tend to get bored and hungry. I don’t want this to happened in our wedding so I prepared so much so our guest will not be hungry and bored. I prepared a separate area for the cocktail and activities which is right after the parking area. Our registration table has several information and activities like the escort cards where they can see their names and seat number, madlibs which they can fill out while waiting, photo message which serve as a guest book. I also displayed our prenup albums and website features and some of our memorabilia. Aside from standing cocktail table, I also prepared some seats intended for the elders who wanted to take a rest. For the food, aside from the 2 cocktail dishes from our caterer, they also prepared some biscuits and peanuts as additional and I also prepared canape sandwich to add more. We also got a freebie smores bar from our caterer that made our guests have fun burning some marshmallows. Aside from food, we also prepared for some activities they can enjoy while waiting. We have lawn games – apple crochet and ring toss as fun activities. We also have on-the-spot caricature drawing as additional souvenir. We have 2 photo printing, one hashtag printing so they can just use their mobile phones and take photo anywhere they wanted, and photo will be printed by posting using our hashtag #lemigetmarried. Another photobooth was the digital photobooth where you must post and take a snap, choose background and photos will be printed. When guests came in in inside the reception, we’ve prepared a trivia quiz with a prize if anyone answer it correct. We have band to sing for entertainment and a mobile bar with taco bar.”

How did you feel throughout the day?

Groom Miko: “Excitement, anxiety if everything's going to work, as planned.”

Bride Lea: “I was kind of stiff at the moment I was walking down the aisle. I can say my emotion was blank but I was shaking. I want to cry but tears won’t fall. Ecstatic with the crowd when the door opened – my mom, my best friend and of course my groom cried as expected. I felt that I was floating while walking but it was the best feeling and a walk to remember for the rest of my life.”

What was the most memorable moment from the day? “Our special moment during our wedding was our wedding dance. We both don’t dance well but we want to have a choreograph dance to at least make it good in the eyes of our guests. We wanted to be prepared with our dance that we hired a dance trainer to teach us a simple dance steps. We chose the song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. The song was a hype wedding dance during our time but what made us remember the moment was we dance it heartfelt as we do not count the steps, but we remembered the movements by singing the song while dancing. We just look to each other’s eyes and trust that we can do it well. We’ve enjoyed the moment without thinking that we have audience. We just dance and felt the love for each other will never have to end.”

Advice for future brides?Enjoy the planning and the wedding day itself. Something that you will always missed was the wedding preparation. We put more time and effort during the wedding preparation especially like us who did it over a year. Wedding planning was so called a test of relationship which can make or break you as a couple. During this time was also the moment that we will discover (husband-to-be and bride-to-be) the likes and differences in making decision for the wedding details which will build the bond of patience, understanding and developing to maturity of the love you’ve shared over years. On the wedding day, do not stress yourself if you see something that did not work as planned. The guests will not noticed it anyway. Just live and enjoy the moment because it was a lifetime memory you’ll always look back and share a story to your future offspring.”
