Pulling off a European Vintage themed wedding in tropical Phuket might sound difficult, but this couple was able to plan a gorgeous ceremony and reception with the help of a brilliant and sophisticated Italian wedding designer! This beautiful Phuket wedding was exactly what the couple wanted: Breathtaking decor that reminded the pair of their time studying at Cambridge along with the gorgeous Andaman Sea as a backdrop. See the gorgeous photos below and prepare to fall in love!
From the bride: "We wanted not only the perfect romantic setting, but also a place where our guests could have enjoyable and relaxing moments. We are from Shenzhen, China, so it could have been difficult to plan our destination wedding abroad; luckily, we went through Ilaire, a professional wedding designer and planner, during our holiday in Phuket."
Can you tell us about how you came up with your wedding theme? "We had no theme in mind at the beginning. We just wanted our wedding to be unique and unforgettable for our 110 guests. We were also looking for something that reflects our personalities, as well as show to our guests the depth of our love. We both studied and began our careers in Cambridge, so we have many friends there. We wanted our wedding to be inspired by the elegance and beauty we appreciated greatly in Europe. The theme we eventually decided on was named, “The Key of Love." Our theme was both romantic and vintage, with its natural dusty colors and rustic wooden pieces with touches of gold for decoration. The attention to every small detail, as well as the unique Italian taste of our wedding designer, created the wedding of our dreams! We wanted something classy and romantic, so it was second nature for us to choose neutral colors such as blush, champagne ivory, and dusty grey."
Walk us through the wedding day! "The wedding day started with the early morning preparation for the Chinese tea ceremony. This is the first very important moment of this occasion: Serving tea to our families is an act of deep respect and gratitude for all the years of love and care we received. We definitely loved this very emotional moment. It started from the “pick up” phase, where I was laughing nonstop when my husband-to-be tried to put the “Cinderella shoe” on me while declaring his love. This was right after sucking helium from the balloons (a door game they played) - his voice was so funny! After a quick lunch, we started getting ready for the afternoon Western wedding ceremony."
What was your favorite moment during the wedding? "I was literally shaking when I arrived at the church, walking down the aisle with over a hundred people looking at me. Even so, I’ll never forget how he looked at me. The altar decoration, an open vintage door overlooking the ocean surrounded by lush floral cascades and lanterns, was the perfect frame for the beginning of our new life as husband and wife while we held “The Key Of Love” in our hands. When we walked down the aisle as Mr. & Mrs., we had the best view we could ever wish for: The smiles of our families and friends! Every single moment was special and unforgettable: We ate, danced, laughed, and felt overwhelmingly grateful for this once in a lifetime experience. But it wasn’t over yet. Fireworks? That happy ending right out of a fairytale just left everyone speechless!"
How did you feel throughout the day? "I was simply happy and relaxed throughout the day: First because I knew that I was marrying the man of my dreams, and secondly I knew our planner was thinking about the rest. I fully trusted her to solve any problem! I think that the most emotional moment was during the tea ceremony, when I served the tea to my mother-in-law and I spontaneously called her “mum;" I couldn’t stop my tears of joy. Another thing that I will remember forever is watching the fireworks! It was something magical and unique for our guests. Each and every moment was special, and I will always remember it all, from the pick up to the first dance."
Advice for future brides? "Make sure that your wedding planner is professional and trustworthy. He or she should understand the general ideas of the couple. Don’t worry about the unexpected, as the wedding planner will take care of every aspect. This is the best investment you can make, because at the end of the day, you want to remember only smiles on the faces of your loved ones! Wedding Boutique Phuket, Renaissance Resort and Darinimages were the best choices we could have made for our big day, and now everybody can see the results through our photo album!"
