In addition to our Bali pre-engagement shoot and our Paris pre-wedding shoot, we wanted to do another shoot in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is really special to me because it’s the birthplace of Asia Wedding Network and where I spend most of my time for work. The shoot was inspired by everything we found beautiful about Hong Kong and everything we loved about the city. My favorite part about Hong Kong is the city skyline, it always gave me a sense of excitement, a surge of ambition, a sense of hope. When I first came to Hong Kong for an internship between my junior and senior year of college, I stood at the very spot where we took our first pre-wedding shots, wondering what adventures would come at me. This one, I have to say, is my favorite.
The shoot took the whole day with a fun lunch break with all our vendors at the Lobster Bar in Island Shangri-la, one of our favorite spots in Hong Kong - as well as one of the first places we went on a date when my fiancé and I just started dating. I wore five dresses, all from Audella Bridal House in Central, Hong Kong - one from Inbal Dror, two from BERTA, one from Mark Bumgarner, and one from Romona Keveza. Choosing the dresses at the Audella Bridal House boutique was really fun and everyone was extremely nice and patient, which helped me make my decisions easier.
Joman Wedding’s Allison helped me with my makeup and hair. Considering we had five looks, she was extremely quick and efficient. I knew Joey Tang, a fellow #girlboss who owns Joman Wedding, from when I first started my business. She always offered to help on our projects and was always there to give me tips as I entered the bridal industry when Asia Wedding Network first launched. Joey did my makeup in the past and I loved it, but even though she wasn’t there herself to do my makeup this time (she’s also a new #mompreneur!), Allison was also extremely talented. We went from soft and natural to more ballroom looks as we took the shot into Island Shangri-la’s Library. Paired with the beautiful earrings and hair accessories from Lane’s Bridal, each look had it’s own uniqueness and beauty.
One of my favorite venues at Island Shangri-la is The Library, which is a beautiful space full of bookshelves and nostalgic furniture, and had a great view of Hong Kong. When I got there, Mon Trésor already had a little table setting filled with elegant, fine decorations and little frames of our past shoots. This little touch really allowed me to see what level of service this decoration company was able to provide - always going above expectations and putting each bride first. Make Your Choicesss Floral Lab provided the floral bouquet, which featured my favorite colors in a style that I loved! Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, your wedding, or just a bridal shower, everyone in Hong Kong knows you can’t go wrong with Make Your Choicesss Floral Lab.
We loved working with Milk & Honey Studio for our previous shoot, so of course we were going to work with them again for this shoot! Allen Fu, our main photographer, and Vanol Chen, our second photographer, did an amazing job once again capturing each frame at each location with each look. Their creativity, patience, and passion never ceases to amaze me, making them the ideal team to work together for any type of shoot.
